Coach Alex

I’m Alex, a competitive runner, England Athletics leader, and qualified teacher. I have competed in races of all distances from the mile to the marathon and have coached a range of abilities one-to-one and in an athletics club setting. Whether a veteran or a new runner, I believe everyone has potential to improve and I endeavour to help you achieve your running goals. I believe the best training uses proven coaching methods and the latest sports science.


I’m passionate about understanding what helps athletes improve, and I keep up to date with research on endurance training, performance, and injury prevention. My coaching is built around finding what works best for each individual athlete. My commitment to my athletes is helping you train consistently, confidently, and to most importantly enjoy the process.

  • MSc, University of Manchester

Personalised Coaching: Benefits

 Having a personal running coach provides invaluable expertise to support with achieving performance goals. Every runner is different, and I build plans around your goals, experience, lifestyle and available time. As an athlete, I’ve navigated the challenges of fitting training around a full-time job, as well as dealt with the struggles of motivation and accountability throughout these.


We all have busy lives with work, socialising and family commitments, and working with a coach can be beneficial for fitting a training plan around a busy schedule. One of the greatest benefits of personal coaching is having a constant motivator and helping to set manageable short to long-term goals.


My coaching combines my own athletics experience with my study of the science in endurance training. Using modern coaching methods, I can apply proven principles to your individual circumstances to create the best training approach. Whatever your goals are, my personalised coaching offer will help you become a stronger, faster, and more confident runner.

1-to-1 running coaching

My Coaching Offer

  • Personalised weekly training plans and pacing strategies.


  • Race preparation, including race strategies and course insights. I can also support with finding the perfect race.


  • General nutrition advice for day-to-day, and specific fuelling strategies for runs and races.


  • Injury support as well as prevention through advice on drills, warmups, and stretches.


  • Support with finding the right gear, including up-to-date research insights on running shoe technology.


  • In-person coaching to analyse running gait or form can be organised.

I will then arrange a free introductory call via Zoom to get to know each other and see whether coaching is the right fit for you.


As part of the service, I will provide weekly training plans as well as unlimited contact via Email and WhatsApp for any running-related questions. I can also arrange in-person coaching where necessary.
